One record per item
The whole paper trail, on the item it belongs to.
Record the item type (suppressor, SBR, SBS, AOW, machine gun, or other), make, model, and caliber, your ATF form number, approval and purchase dates, and what you paid against what it is worth now. Then attach the tax stamp and supporting documents directly to the item.

Encrypted where it counts
The serial number, trust name, notes, and beneficiary name are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. Make, model, caliber, and ATF form stay searchable, and dates and values stay sortable.
Documents attached, not scattered
Upload the tax stamp and supporting files to the item they belong to. Photo metadata, including GPS location, is stripped on upload.
Leaves with you
NFA records are included in the passphrase-encrypted backup export of your full account, which opens with a standalone decrypt utility.
