A spreadsheet and a printable record for your firearms: identification, serial number, purchase details, value, and round count. No email, no signup, no watermark.
The CSV is a plain UTF-8 file with no macros. Column names match Armanac's own firearm export, so the file stays familiar if you use the app later.
Before you fill it in
A completed inventory is a sensitive document.
Serial numbers plus purchase details describe exactly what is worth stealing and where it lives. Treat the finished file with the same care as the firearms it lists.
- Store it on an encrypted disk. macOS FileVault and Windows device encryption both work with no extra software.
- If you use a cloud drive, encrypt the file itself first, or keep it out of synced folders.
- If you print it, store the paper in a safe or another locked place.
- Keep one backup somewhere that survives a house fire, like an encrypted drive stored elsewhere.
What the template records
Make, model, caliber, serial number, purchase date and price, current value, round count, and notes. The same details support a police report and an insurance claim if a firearm is ever lost or stolen.
The official alternative
The ATF's free Personal Firearms Record (P 3312.8) covers identification, acquisition, and insurance basics. If you prefer a government form, use that one. The goal is a complete record, not a particular file.
If you outgrow the spreadsheet
Armanac keeps the same record, encrypted.
Armanac does not import this file yet: records are entered in the app. Serial numbers and notes are encrypted before storage, and your data exports back out as CSV on every plan, including the free one.
