Frequently asked questions
How does Armanac protect my data?
Serial numbers, training locations, notes, names, and email addresses are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. Arsenal attachments use a separate encryption key, and photo metadata, including GPS location, is stripped on upload. Armanac runs no ad trackers.
Is this a registry?
No. Armanac is a private tool, not a government system. We do not sell your data or voluntarily share firearm records. Stripe processes payments, and our email provider delivers sign-in codes; both are covered in the privacy policy.
How current is the CCW reciprocity map?
The map covers all 50 states and DC. Every entry shows its review date and official sources. It is free to browse without an account. Saved permits, trip planning, and expiration reminders are on Operator and Arsenal. Laws change, so confirm permits and destination rules before travel.
Why not just use a spreadsheet?
A spreadsheet can store rows. Armanac also tracks permit expirations and reciprocity, deducts rounds from linked ammo, and builds incident reports from records you already keep.
Can I export my data?
Yes, on every plan. Direct CSV downloads cover firearms, maintenance, and training. Your encrypted .armanac backup contains every account record as CSV and opens with the standalone decrypt utility. Firearm inventory and training report PDFs are on Operator and Arsenal.
Do I have to enter serial numbers?
No. Serial numbers, notes, and beneficiary names are optional. Some people track every detail; others only use the CCW reciprocity map.
